Which is better zildjian or sabian

I've defaulted to Zildjian since I started drumming in the early 80s, which of course, was right around the time Sabians started hitting the market. I've had dozens of Sabians over the years, but I never seem to hang on to them. I think this is because I'm hearing a fundamental difference between the two. Like the alloys are different enough to be really noticeable.

Maybe that's not it - maybe Sabian just works them differently. I still like Sabian, but I keep preferring Zildjian. How do other drummers hear this difference? I had the fish. With a few exceptions I feel as if Sabian cymbals have a longer sustain generally. With Zildjian cymbals, to me, they sound warmer and more mellow sounding.

Very musical and go good with many different rock genres. That's longer than many countries have been around. Can't imagine there's much they don't know about cymbals. The answer to which brand is better is highly subjective. You can find cymbals of all kinds from each side of the argument and they will all sound fantastic. The answer to which brand is better will just depend on how much you personally like the products. Zildjian has a huge social media presence. They tend to show off their artists a bit better than Sabian does thanks to things like Zildjian Live and Performances. This may just be one of those solid determining factors for preference. You need to make the decision and go from there.

Sound wise, I like what both has to offer. Both makers have a wide variety of sounds to choose from, the majority of which are good to my ear.

Like TMF said, pick cymbals individually. Nothing is better than a pefect set-up, regardless of logos! With that said, I prefer Sabian. It's not necessarily because of sound, because Zildjian and Sabian's characteristics are quite similar, but because of what Sabian offers.

Sabian also lets you custom order anything you want. The customer service is great too. I had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with the Sabian Vault team at the Vault Tour and they were awesome. They are a good company, with cymbals that I love. That is why I choose Sabian.
